Taking Care Of Your Kitten

Kitten grooming can be daunting for the first-time kitten owner. There are many factors associated with kitten care knowledge. Grooming may just be about keeping an eye on the kittens, but you can also get more involved in bottle-feeding (when the queen is not around) by socializing your kitten. You need to learn these things in order to raise your kitten effectively. Caring for kittens should be fun. You will find that your kitten is a completely helpless little thing for the first few days.

With care, your kitten will transform into a strong, intelligent, and loving cat. Kittens grow quickly and develop faster for the first six weeks of their lives. This particular phase is crucial. There are some things that you really shouldn’t be doing at this stage in your kitten’s existence.

Diet is vital and of course, you should never feed the kitten food and especially, as some owners do, dog food! The food should be specially formulated for a kitten with the essential nutrients and vitamins needed for good health and growth. The diet you give is an essential part of kitten care. Don’t feed your kitten off the plate or offer processed foods that humans eat – for example; Canned tuna.

If you want to have a social cat, try to bond with the kitten early on, with lots of hugs and love. Let the kitten experience the joy of human company right from the start and you will likely have an affectionate, sociable cat to enjoy. Of course, there is no guarantee of this as cats are cats and some just enjoy their own company, but it is important to socialize the kitten as well as possible.

When choosing toys, make sure that you don’t give your kitten things that they can easily choke on. Long pieces of wool or string should only be handled under observation and should never be left alone with the kitten.
